Teach for Change

Teach for Change, a flagship initiative by Catalyst for Change Vietnam, bridges educational gaps between rural and urban children while supporting women-led businesses. We provide mentoring and international volunteers to women-led English centers in the Vietnamese countryside, fostering leadership skills for entrepreneurs and facilitating English learning with cultural exchange opportunities for students.

ABOUT THIS PROGRAM

Our Teach for Change predominantly collaborates with schools spearheaded by women, which lack the means to employ proficient English teachers but remain committed to providing their students with equitable opportunities to learn the language, often at minimal or no cost. Our program therefore operates at the intersection of education, entrepreneurship, and cultural exchange, aiming to create a transformative impact on both students and communities.

At the heart of T4C lies our commitment to supporting English centers located in the picturesque Vietnamese countryside through mentorship and the assistance of international volunteers. We equip these centers with the tools and resources necessary to enhance English language education while fostering leadership skills among female entrepreneurs.

Our Teach for Change program brings in 40+ international volunteers at a time to join over 18 partner schools across the country. They work with an innovative team of locals and internationals alike to provide high-quality English classes to children of diverse ages and proficiency levels. This initiative seamlessly integrates with the broader Catalyst for Change initiative, channeling funds directly into Empowerment Plan projects. This is a fantastic opportunity for those seeking to develop their professional teaching skills, embark on a cultural-exchange journey, meet other like-minded humans, and work with young people.

"Our time has been full of culture and learning experiences. The Host family is incredibly hospitable, loving and kind-hearted. The teachers and students were so welcoming and it didn't take long for them all to wiggle their way into our hearts. As first time teachers this was a wonderful experience for us. The school provides a curriculum to follow and the Vietnamese teaching assistants are all extremely helpful and always made sure we felt comfortable in the classroom This was a great opportunity to learn and grow and we will forever hold this experience and all of the people we met very close to our hearts."
