On October 4–5, 2025, Catalyst for Change (C4C) was honored to participate in the ASEAN for the Peoples Conference (AFPC) in Jakarta, Indonesia—a transformative gathering of over 100 civil society organizations (CSOs) from across Southeast Asia, united under one goal: to reimagine ASEAN as a truly inclusive, fair, and people-centered region.
Held under the theme “Advancing People-Centered ASEAN,” the conference emphasized the vital role of grassroots organizations in shaping the future of our region. From conversations about youth leadership and climate justice to economic inclusion and women’s empowerment, the AFPC created a powerful space for dialogue, collaboration, and solidarity.
Shared Visions, Stronger Together
Over two inspiring days, the C4C team connected with changemakers across ASEAN. We were deeply moved to see how many other organizations shared our core mission: empowering women and youth. It was a joy to witness the colorful diversity of ASEAN cultures, from national attire to local languages, and yet discover how closely aligned our values are.
We took part in meaningful panel discussions and breakout dialogues that tackled the region’s most pressing issues—especially those that directly affect the communities we work with, such as economic vulnerability, access to education, and gender equity.

A Moment of Pride: Top 1 Active CSO Award

One of the most humbling moments of the conference was being recognized as the Top 1 Active CSO among all participating organizations. This award is a reflection of the tireless work of our volunteers, staff, and most importantly, the incredible women we partner with every day through programs like HerCraft, HerKitchen, and HerAcademy.
A special shoutout goes to Brandon, one of our passionate international volunteers, whose energy and commitment played a big part in making our booth and presence shine. Thank you, Brandon, and thank you to every visitor who came by to learn more about our work.
A Call for a People-Centered ASEAN
The AFPC highlighted a powerful truth: regional progress must be rooted in the lived experiences of everyday people—not just institutions. We stand with the AFPC’s final statement, which called on ASEAN to:
Strengthen CSO participation in policymaking
Institutionalize regular civil society dialogue
Promote youth leadership and inclusive innovation
Recognize CSOs as strategic partners in building resilience, equity, and peace
As an organization working at the intersection of education, empowerment, and community healing, we see these goals as essential to a stronger, more compassionate Southeast Asia.

Leaving Jakarta, we return home more inspired than ever. We carry with us new connections, bold ideas, and a deeper sense of regional solidarity. The future of ASEAN isn’t just about policy - it’s about people. And we’re proud to be part of the movement ensuring that every woman, every child, and every young leader has a seat at the table.
From Vietnam to the rest of Southeast Asia: Let’s keep building futures together.
